Povray-Island and Air Lohmüller

15.12.2025 - 5:00 pm
In mid-2025, I was looking for a rocket launch site for my Tussi spaceship. You know, the barrel-shaped ugly thing that has already completed two moon flights.

I realized some of the most necessary improvements in the second flight, with a more beautiful planet, real Milky Way, real stars and a real moon. I even came up with something nice for the landing scene on the moon, but it hasn't made it into the video yet.

Only the first 10 seconds look really really REALLY bad, the launch from Earth up into space, I really wanted to improve this at next.

But instead of concentrating on a launch pad with a bit of stuff around it, the work has escalated tremendously over weeks. The result was a very unfinished and unstable macro collection that (someday, maybe) creates entire islands - including roads, paths, vegetation, houses, and all sorts of things.

It came as it always does - in addition to private real-life stories, I had other projects in mind and priorities changed.

The macros slumber on the hard drive, far from being published, but I can present a test flight over the site. By the way, the red plane comes from the Povray master himself, the unfortunately already deceased Friedrich Lohmüller.

Have fun,
Martin

First flight over an through Povray-Island
80 seconds - 1280x720 px - 22 MB
1600 Frames - 20 fps - 28 crf - lib264

The video is the result of a test rendering in between, so the quality is limited.
Too small resolution, too little FPS and even quite badly converted with 28 CRF.
The next flight will be better.
