What shall I say... I loooove Povray animations.
No matter how pointless they may seem and be a hellish waste of time.
After days/weeks of programming, start the Raspberry Pi in the evening, let it render all the frames overnight, ffmpeg them in the morning and enjoy the result. Reliably puts a smile on my face.
This time I added eye-pleasing upgrades to my year-old Tussi-Movie.
From the beginning, the movie was designed to be improved and expanded later. Over time, some Povray packages have been added to my collection, which are not yet ready for release - heavily under construction - but usable for me.
Tussi - Flight number 2
85 seconds - 1920x1080 pixel - 42 MB
2550 frames - 30 fps - 25 crf

Changes from flight 1
- realistic Milky Way
- realistic Moon
- nicer Earth Horizon
- nicer rocket flames
- Music
The inclusion of the Milky Way instead of the fake background increased the file size immensely, so I had to turn down the quality a bit (crf 25 instead of 23 or even 20). By the way, my Raspberry Pi 5 needed 11 hours and 20 minutes to render the 2550 HD frames. A Pi 4 would have been on the road for about 30 hours (about factor 2.87).
In addition, I have set music to a video for the first time. Had to figure out how to teach FFmpeg to process an MP3 file when creating the video. And of course, where to get free music, which was the next hurdle. I quickly found some sources for this, which make music freely available if various information is given.
I'm curious to see what I'll include in version 3 of the movie.
The new and also the old version are stored on the Tussi page.
Till then,
Martin
